Nothing really special but I thought just wanna update you on what’s up with life these days:
1. Election is the hottest stuff in my Country the Philippines. Truth is, as I’ve shared with many of you time and again, I’ve given up hope with the politicians in my so called “very hospitable country.” I live in a very disturbed neighbourhood. Two of our so-called MPs or Town Captains were both shot dead in my hood and the hood just near my place. Mind you, they’re old buddies of my late Dad!  They’re very popularly corrupted and some say nice people too. I don’t know how you mix corrupted and nice at the same time seriously. Oh, and ballot buying is a hit as well naturally. Between voting to get nothing than selling your votes to tie over your hunger would favour the dirt poor.             I mean, what’s the point of voting when the politicians there simply act and fix your basketball court so that they can get elected right? You’d rather sell your vote and it’ll buy you some food and make you live. Cotabato’s experienced how many bombings since election started, even a bus terminal’s been bombed and children died due to some brainless plot to kill a Bus Manager. I echo the sentiment of BEP “WHERE IS THE LOVE?!” Oh, and a boxer running for election, a couple of actors running for Senatorial posts? I mean how are they really going to do the jobs of people who should be knowledgeable when it comes to running and organizing law, order, economics, and progress of a 77++ million people? This has always disturbed me.
My 74 year old Mum told me once, “you can’t be a politician here Anak or you’ll probably be shot even before your campaign starts” she’s probably right! I have TFC at home, but everytime I watch it, instead of being encouraged, I get depressed. I love the entertainment elements but that’s about it. Here in Singapore, when Parliament’s on t.v. I am more attentive and really try my best to understand what our MPs and leaders are trying to say. I admire both the PAP and opposition corners coz they’re simply wanting to do, to pass, to recommend, to debate, to give what’s due to all the people who live in this country especially for the common Singaporeans. This is what encourages me to contribute more to Singapore and it encourages my spirit to at least give some time to some voluntary work or be more compassionate towards the needy and be more giving whenever that opportunity knocks my way. Most of the time, these things aren’t viewed positively by many locals. Talk to me one day when you get a chance and you’ll appreciate Singapore more when I tell you what “dirty politics” is all about.Â
Oh, If I was home right now, I’d probably be arranging music, singing vocals, and doing jingles for some of the candidates! I kid you not, it’s also the best time music people get more “kachings” in my hometown. They play on loudspeakers on top of vans, buses, tuk-tuks or tricycles, jeepneys, everywhere. Ad agencies are of course the bigger players. They have to conceptualize and bring about a better image of some candidates and you’ll see them on t.v., movie houses, even on outdoor videos. It’s total madness!
