Bruised, Broken, Beaten, Nanay – I’m here as always….

Nanay is how we call Mum or Mom at home. If you’re a close friend or If we’re buddies, it’s normal for  us to call each other’s Mum as “Mum” or “Nanay.” Almost all of my college pals and close friends call my Mum – “Nanay.” And indeed, my Mum deserves to be called “Nanay.”

It’s painful for me to write and express myself on something so personal here. But I thought, perhaps it could ease the pain in my heart. The heaviness in my heart is unbearable that It’s making me sleepless to date – My Mum’s currently bed-ridden and is now at my home in Manila along with my sisters and recently with a private Nanny.

Will I blame God for her accident, coz, “God, she made her way to your place of worship because she wants to worship you! Lord, she fell while walking on the road trying to reach your s0o-called house…why did you forsake her? Why did you make her fall? You have all the mighty Angels right?”  I don’t wanna blame God for her fate, but, It’s painful to know that when she got home it was all blood in her face and bruises all over her.  I’m just grateful that some town council volunteers were there at that time and Mum’s still able to tell and direct them where our location is.  The weeks that followed after that was unbearable. My youngest Sis told me the stories and it’s just too unbearable for me to even share it here.  That’s why she was rushed to the hospital that didn’t do much for her but all the senseless checks.

We brought Mum home and I was about to bring her for another check before flying back to Singapore, but It’s not my call – my eldest Sis visited our family Doctor and got another wise tip from her – “bring your Mum for an M.R.I.” she recommended for us to visit a specialist friend of hers just to ensure Mum’s safety and condition.  I stepped out of the house and got some new beddings for Mum.  Even getting stuff for her made me weak in the knees, good thing I was with friends who drove and delivered me from the mall to my place.

I know it’s not Mother’s Day, but after a long time, this was one time I had the chance to give Mum a back, shoulder, head and foot massage. I helped feed her, assisted my sis bathing her, cleaning up her mess – it’s seriously heart-breaking!

I left my house the night before I flew back with a heavy heart. Nanay can’t speak much while she was being fed by her Nanny but kept looking at me. She could only wave her hand and I took her hand as a blessing from her touching my forehead.  I’ll be back there in March and by faith – Nanay, we’ll see each other again.

Go hug your loved ones today – especially your Mum.
