HAIR TODAY, GONE…TO REUS!

July 5th, 2010

One man’s crowning glory is critical…especially when there isn’t much left! :P   And so that is why I’m pretty sure you will agree that choosing the right hair stylist or salon is very pretty important!

We all have our preferred salon and hair stylist / hairdresser / barber or what have you…So when I was introduced to this Salon Reus, I was a little skeptical…afraid to step out of my “hairy comfort zone” (how wrong does that sound? :P ). I am sure you will understand how we tend to be a little more careful with something we already don’t have much off.  Case in point, my crowning glory…or lack of :P

But in the spirit of adventure, I bravely ventured and was very warmly welcomed by Ohruby, the technical director at Salon Reus.  I was showed around a salon that was classy and dare I say, dabbled with a tinge of fun (it is not very fun when a full head of hair is the last thing you can boast of :P )!  The salon was very professional looking, clean and tidy and fresh!

I was then introduced to Alvin, a stylist with Salon Reus.  I told him my little reservation to preserve whatever I had left at the top and that I had a show to host over the weeked…I was open to everything else he thought would be best for him.  Alvin recommended a cutting technique to create more volume in my hair and a little highlighting to bring out the best bits.  Sure!  And work began… :)

I was first taken to have a nice, soothing and relaxing wash before Alvin started on what some have said, “beyond any help” :P   A snip here and a snip there after, we were off to adding the highlights and an hour later, I stepped out with a brand new cut that I would say, did indeed bring out the best of whatever I had on the top :)   The result was a nicer picture at my hosting gig that weekend! :)

What I liked about Salon Reus was they listened…and didn’t at any time push anything in their own interest.  It was always about me! :)   The staff were extremely hospitable, always making sure I was comfortable (from the drinks served to reading materials) and they were bent on giving me the best hair cut and styling possible!  Such professionalism and pride in their work is often lacking at other salons.

Definitely worth a re-visit and if you can, give them a shot!  Don’t need to tell your regular hair stylist…just pop over “secretly” and I assure you that this “renegade mission” will be worth your while! :)

You can find Salon Reus at 51 Cuppage Road, Starhub Centre, #01-11! :)

LOVE = FOOTBALL = NO SLEEP

June 16th, 2010

Finally the Power98 website is back online!  It’s been a while and it is even more challenging now writing an entry!  Especially since I’ve been deprived of sleep the past 5 days since the World Cup kicked off! :P

Walking around red-eyed like a zombie happens once every 4 years!  For me it’s 2 years, since I was involved in presenting the Carlsberg Euro 2008 preview on Starhub!  Gosh!  The familiar craving for coffee or any adrenaline boost to stay alive enough to go on-air creeps in more frequently now! :P

I was forwarded this very cheeky letter for all World Cup survivor wannabes to give to their better halves and I thought I’d share this with you to put a smile on your face and let you in a little on the fanaticism over the beautiful game! :)
