A BIOGRAPHY
Sebastian Sim was born in Singapore on December 11. Of Peranakan descent, Sebastian converses with ease in English, Mandarin and Malay. An extrovert by nature, Sebastian is naturally humorous and quick-witted. He holds true to his Sagittarian star sign of having the innate ability to thrive on stage.
A people-oriented individual boasting of a fun and spontaneous style of communication, Sebastian’s trademark fast, lively expression is both engaging and effective. Sebastian is a regular face on the events circuit, having hosted a wide repertoire of events that include the Singapore Symphony Orchestra National Day concert at the Singapore River, "Rivers of the World", MTV road shows and Singapore Biathlon.
Regardless of the scale of the event, from cozy birthday parties to national events like the National Day Parade 2005 Carnival @ Marina, Sebastian possesses the versatility to connect with the audience and make any event a personable experience for all.
Hosting aside, Sebastian has established himself as a creditable voice talent. His most noteworthy project was for the National Council Against Drug Abuse in their interactive e-learning module for use in education institutes nationwide, ‘David’s Diary’. Sebastian also voices commercials for numerous reputable international brands like Mazda, 20th Century Fox, Toshiba, DBS, Nokia, Jim Beam and Columbia Tristar Pictures.
Sebastian’s break into television came when he landed a supporting role in the telemovie ‘Coffee on Cream’, which was part of MediaCorp TV’s ‘Love Matters’ anthology. ‘Coffee on Cream’ was later nominated for ‘Best Single Drama or Telemovie’ at the Asian Television Awards 2002.
Within a year, Sebastian landed roles in a considerable number of other local productions for MediaCorp TV including ‘Heartlanders 2’, ‘Restless’ and the critically acclaimed ‘The Singapore Short Story Project’. In addition, he has done several docu-dramas including ‘True Courage’, which hit record ratings. Sebastian has also landed his first share of lead roles like in the telemovie ‘Birthday Party’, which premiered for MediaCorp TV’s ‘No Place Like Home’ anthology.
Sebastian’s other productions include ‘We Are R.E.M’, ‘Blueprints’, the second season of ‘Oh Carol’, ‘Oli’s Wild Adventures’ and 3 successful seasons of ‘Whizzes Of The Void Deck’, both shown on Kids Central. On top of that, Sebastian has also worked on several short films including ‘Outsiders’ and ‘Bipolar’, both of which debuted at the 17th Singapore International Film Festival and Commonwealth Film Festival in Manchester, England, respectively. He also made a cameo appearance in Raintree Pictures’ film ‘Leap of Love’.
